typecho的源码问题

新手一个,请问下在看那个源码主题的index.php的时候 ，他显示文章为什么没有用类似 <?php $this->widget('Widget_Contents_Post_List')->to($pages); ?>
的语句,而是直接$this->next()就遍历出来了？
这个$this指的是什么？
